Web Design I first began designing web sites in high school where I learned the HTML language in a computer class. That was more than 10 years ago! Back then I did a few HTML sites for some friends and even got paid for designing a three page site for a local doctors office! After high school I became more interested in web design and when I joined my local volunteer fire department, I soon decided that we needed a web site to promote ourselves and get information out to the community. The first generation of the Double Oak Volunteer Fire Department web site was born! Since that time I have administered and re-designed the Double Oak VFD's web site several times to keep up with advances in technology, broadband Internet speeds, and the demands of viewers. Now the DOVFD site is a multimedia rich and content driven web site complete with loads of photos, video, and audio clips. My design philosophy for the DOVFD web site has carried into my designs for other sites as well. I believe that a web site should be graphically attractive and driven with interesting and well laid out content. It should also load quickly and have smooth navigation. These are just some of my primary goals in designing web sites. Click the web design menu item for much more detailed information on our web design services.
Video Projects When I was young I loved playing with the video camera and making movies. I remember watching our recorded home movies or vacation videos and seeing that 10 minute segment of someones leg because the camera was left on by accident. There was no easy way to get rid of that and it became a pain to watch those home videos. Today technology has caught up with the digital video camera allowing complete control over the editing process. This has made those boring vacation videos and home movies a thing of the past because all of the bad stuff can now be edited out easily on the computer. I began editing videos on the computer for the fire department. I wanted our firefighters to have a yearly highlight video that they could watch forever on DVD to remember their accomplishments each year. This yearly video became a huge hit with everyone who couldn't wait for their own copy to take home. So far I have made 5 yearly DVD highlight videos for members of the fire department. For my own enjoyment I applied the video editing techniques to my vacation videos and other home videos. I didn't want to show a "boring" vacation video to friends and family. I wanted the video to be interesting so that we would also want to watch the videos again years down the road. After friends saw some of my videos I began getting asked to do some video projects for others. I have done a promotional video for a men's Christian hockey league, two wedding videos, and some fire department training videos. I have posted several video samples here on this site for viewing under the video production menu item.
